"Frame by Frame" animation is a technique that has been used successfully over the life of animation. One of the major draw backs of "frame by frame" is file size. Since we're working on the web we need to be careful that we do not scare off our viewers with excessive download times.

Doing "frame by frame" animation in Flash is very time consuming but it can produce wonderful results. Below is a quick tutorial on how to create a "frame by frame" animation.

Creating Frame by Frame with external images.

Please set your stage to a size you would like to work with. Set your frame rate no lower then 12 frames per second. And change the background color is you need to.
1)
Create all of the frames you would like to animate in any graphical program. Remember when you are creating a "frame by frame" animation the smaller the movements the smother the animation will show up when it's all stitched together.
2)
Go to "File", "Import." if you have created your animation and named your files in sequence Flash will prompt you to import all of your files. My suggestion is to name your "frame by frame" animation in a similar fashion to this. Ball1.jpg, Ball2.jpg, Ball3.jpg, Ball4.jpg and so on.
3)
Once you have Imported all of your frames you will see in your timeline a group of dots one after another. Those are "Keyframes" with the different images in each of those keyframes.
4)
Hit "Enter" to watch your animation. If your animation is too choppy you might need to make more frames of animation.

Creating "Frame By Frame" Animation using Flash as your Image Editor.
1)
Start creating your graphic in Frame 1 in Layer 1. Once you are done making that graphic continue to step 2.
2)
Select Frame 2 in layer 1
3)
Go to "Insert", "Keyframe." this will create a "Keyframe" in your second Frame. It will be a duplicate of Frame 1.
4)
Edit the image you have created in Frame 2. Once you're done editing that frame go to step 5)
5)
Go to "Insert", "Keyframe." this will create a "Keyframe" in your third Frame. It will be a duplicate of Frame 2.
6)
Edit the image you have created in Frame 3. Once you're done editing that Frame repeat steps 3 and 4 until your animation is complete.
