Homemade Christmas Gifts |
By: Katheryn |
The Christmas season is a time of the year for exchanging gifts with your loved ones. A great way to save money and still have gifts to give to your friends and family is to try to make homemade gifts. Homemade gifts can be just as nice and your parents will most likely treasure them more than a gift you bought at the mall because you made it. Most homemade gifts will be more appropriate for adults rather than your friends because most teenagers aren't happy with receiving decorations and sentimental items. The best ideas for homemade gifts for adults are probably Christmas decorations. One nice decoration that would be useful is a picture frame. All you would have to do for this is buy a plain picture frame and decorate it with small craft items and markers and then place a picture of you and the person who will be receiving the gift inside the frame. Candles are also something easy to make and most people enjoy the different scents they put into the air, for easy directions on how to do this, click this link. Other ideas may include lighted scented jars and wooden signs. Christmas ornaments are also something that your parents will enjoy and there are so many different ornaments that are easy to make and will look beautiful hanging on your tree. One example of one could be as simple as gluing two candy canes together in the shape of a heart and looping a ribbon on the top for it to hang from. Then use your own creativity and add a little color and décor to it. However, a great gift idea for other teens, or anybody for that matter, is a homemade scrapbook. All you need to do for this is to purchase a cheap photo album from a local store and gather all the pictures you have of this person, it is best if they are pictures of you with this person. Scrapbooks are a great way to preserve memories. You cut the pictures any way that you want to and paste them into your photo album. You can decorate it with scraps of colored paper, sequins, foam shapes, paint, and markers; you can also write little notes or captions to go with your pictures. For smaller children, like younger brothers or sisters, you can always tie-dye, use iron-on transfers, or fabric paint to make a tee shirt and personalize it to them. All you have to do is think of that person's personal interests. Also homemade jewelry is a great idea. Jewelry can be made with beads, safety pins, and elastic or embroidery thread. You could also make sock snowmen or simple snow globes for younger people on your list. Whatever gift you choose to make, it is important to keep the individuals interests and personal taste in mind. The more personal the gift is, the more they will appreciate the thought and your efforts. Always keep in mind, it is the thought that counts. |
