Restored Vehicles by People Across
The Country.
This GPW is owned by Phil from Chicago, IL.

The previous owner welded the frame to the body in
many spots so doing a frame off restoration is just impossible without ruining
one or the other. Working with everything intact, though I'm sure I'm going
to miss a lot that way, but I'd rather keep it as original as possible than
risk too much with repos.....
She is GPW #86177 out of Dearborn MI in Late Dec
42. Can't find much history on her, but she did serve in France and was
sent back as surplus. She went to the air base in Bozeman Montana after the
war and was purchased by the vet I got her from when he left base in 45. He
drove her all the way back home to Arcadia Wisconsin and had her until I
purchased her, almost 58 years! Talk about a 1 owner! She has 66000 miles on
her as he used her for hunting, etc. My son did the artwork.
She needed: brakes, lines and cylinders; tires,
paint, headlights, all rear lights, trailer lighting coupler, undercoating,
new tranfer case casting, new TC idler gear, new clutch and flywheel, new
gauges except the speedo, new steering wheel, glove box cover and latch, data
plates, light switches (still has original bulbs on the dash lights), new
windshield rubber all around, new bows, hardware and top, new generator,
regulator, air cleaner, crossover, carb, fuel pump, radiator, hoses, water
pump, belt, thermostat, battery, oil lines, dist cover, wires and plugs.
Below are a series of before and after
pictures.
